Celebrate with us as we mark the 10th anniversary of Higher Ground! Our spring concert on the North Shore will feature repertoire from Dowland to Gaga and anything and everything in between. Tickets are $15 and are available from any Higher Ground member (or at the door). See you there!

Higher Ground had a great weekend in Powell River at the Vocal Summit XVII Festival.  Vocal Summit was started nearly 20 years ago by educator and director Peter Taylor, with a focus on education and musical growth. This non-competitive festival show-cases concert and jazz community choirs from elementary to university levels and beyond!

Higher Ground was excited to have our recorded adjudication done by Vijay Singh – a well-known composer, teacher and clinician.  Our clinic was with the fantastic Scott Leithead –the founder of TIME and Kokopelli Choir Associations. He gave us some great ideas for the music in our upcoming spring concert at Mulgrave School in May.

We were one of two groups out of the competition asked to sing again at the evening concert along with the group, Groove for Thought.  Our director, Janet Warren, was presented with the Frank DeMiero Award – lovely surprise. A growth experience for all involved! Our soloists, Karen, Jenny, Deb, and Gina did super jobs.  You ladies made us proud!!!  A big thanks to Sharon Minemoto our accompanist and our guest drummer, Ed Trovato.
